The Four Astrological Elements
There are four categories of astrological signs, classified according to the time of the year in which they fall. Each sign has a specific meaning which coincides with the position of the heavenly bodies in which they fall. These four categories or elements are known as
air, earth, fire, and water. The element into which each astrological sign is designated has to do with the earth's position to both the sun and the planets during the time of the month in which the astrological sign falls.
The calendar of the Zodiac being a moon calendar is different than the regular calendar that we in the Western World are familiar with. Therefore, it is noticed that the period in which an astrological sign falls begins in the third week of the previous month and ends in the third week of the following month (of the standard or Julian Calendar).
